Exemption from VAT.
For intra-community deliveries, foreign VAT exemption applies in the member state from which your goods are dispatched, provided you have a local VAT number. The legislation governing this exemption is based on the physical route of your goods—straightforward in theory, but often complex in practice.
When your goods don't follow exactly the same path as your invoicing, the VAT situation becomes significantly more complicated. This is due to the fact that in chain transactions, transport must be clearly allocated to a specific location. You may also want to consider whether a simplified triangulation scheme is an option.
